Allah Loves the Humble
Al-Hafiz Ibn Abi Dunya (d.281H)
Allah, the Most High Says: āAnd do not walk upon the earth arrogantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height.ā [Qurāan 17:37].
Ā
The Messenger of AllÄh (peace and blessings be upon him) said: āNo one who has a weight of mustard seed of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.āOne of the most praiseworthy characteristics emphasized in Islam is humility ā a virtue that is both a sign of true faith and a protection against the spiritual disease of arrogance. Humility is not merely a moral choice; it is a reflection of the believerās awareness of is position before Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and his recognition of Allahās Supreme Majesty. Arrogance on the other hand is a trait condemned repeatedly in the Qurāan and Sunnah, for it leads to injustice, mistreatment of others, and a false sense of superiority.
Ā
This work aims to explore the significance of humility and its manifestation in various aspects of a Muslimās life: in their dealings with others, in their speech, in their clothing, and even in the way they walk upon the earth. It also seeks to address the importance of shunning fame and recognition, for the true believer strives to be known to Allah, not to the people.
Ā
This text will revive the practice of humility among Muslims, reminding us of the dangers of arrogance and the immense reward awaiting those who embody true humility.
